Meet Trudy Jacobson, Founder of the Great American Women Series
We've owned a transportation company for over 25 years. However, the COVID pandemic presented staffing challenges that later created unique opportunities.
We were in dire need of more employees at every level, and I thought, what better way to recruit new employees than from an underrepresented group in the trucking industry—women!
I decided to learn every role in the trucking industry earlier in my career. That included earning my license to drive an 18-wheeler. And I know any woman could also do it if they really want to.
So I decided to reach out to women everywhere to recruit them to join our team – drivers, executives… you name it.
As a former driver, I chose to be an example and use my experience and knowledge to inspire other women to pursue careers in the trucking industry.
To inspire these women, I wanted to share my stories of successes, challenges, and hard-fought victories.
I then hired a PR firm to help get my message out. Unfortunately, the PR firm failed to produce the results I was looking for, and I did not particularly enjoy promoting myself.
But I didn't give up.
Instead, I altered my plan and shifted my focus from promoting myself to promoting other women. I wanted leaders in their fields who overcame incredible adversity, took major risks, and, despite the odds, found success.
Those were the stories I wanted to tell.
And thanks to my incredible new PR Firm, they've helped me get this exciting idea off the ground and bring this vision to life!
We have highlighted entrepreneurs, business executives, nonprofit founders, artists, and more. It's about real American women who are fighting to succeed, facing adversity, balancing business with family, and much more. I am calling them Great American Women.
And during this journey, I have decided to refine our series even more. As a proud supporter of law enforcement, first responders, and the veteran community, I now highlight the stories of women within these fields who are achieving incredible accomplishments. These women require the same grit, determination, and laser-like focus exhibited in entrepreneurs and deserve the same recognition for their efforts. I’m proud to call them Great American Warriors.
And we are just getting started.
